A stroll in the park

Lily and Kate love to stroll their babies down the street. This is one of my favorite outfits on them. I absolutely love dressing twin girls! The hats were knited by my neighbor. The sweaters were hand made in Chile and were gifts from our Chilean friends. Kate on left above. Lily is in the next 4 photos.

Kate's in the next 6 photos.

Playing with Hudson

Kate and Lily love to play with Hudson. His Daddy is a pastor with our Daddy, so they are often running through the halls of the church together. Here they are at our house doing the twist and playing ring-around-the-rosey. No, his mom did not dress him in this skirt...he ASKED for this skirt after seeing what a great time Lily and Kate were having twisting around in their skirts. Hudson is ALL boy so it is strange to see him in a skirt. Yes, we put the ponytail in his hair so we could have more bribery tools in hand once he becomes old enough to be embarassed at photos of himself in a skirt and ponytail. Lily is in the pink skirt. (Again...there is music when you hit "Play")

Playing in the diaper box

I am loving the two year old stage! For the last month (starting at 2 years, 3 months old), things are A LOT easier. Besides just now sleeping through the night (that is a long story), Kate and Lily are beginning to entertain each other. They chase, wrestle and make each other laugh so hard. Lily especially loves making Kate laugh, and Kate thinks Lily is so hilarious. Here are some photos Sarah (the most wonderful nanny in the world) took of them playing in a box of diapers the other day. There is music when you click play (in case you are at work :) )

Our first haircut

My very cute, but very shaggy-haired girls needed some style! It was so hard for me to finally break down and get their first haircut. Here they are (Kate on left) before the cut.

Daddy leads the way at Great Clips while Kate sits in his lap and Lily warms up.

Kate went first since she is generally a bit more compliant in new situations these days.

By the time she was done, Lily was dying for her turn to "sit in the big chair and eat a sucker." They both did fabulous! No tears and no fussing. We were so proud of them.

Here is the "stacked bob" from the back.

To celebrate the big day, we went next door to the dollar store to buy these party skirts and balloons. It was a great family day!

My best friend's baby

Here she is! Emma Grace. Isn't she gorgeous?! Check out those eyes! They are currently still blue even though you can't tell in the pictures. I went on a 24 hour excursion up to Philadelphia so I could hold her and love on her in person. It just made me want more. I wish so much that she lived closer.

Below, Kate (left) and Lily (named after Emma Grace's mother) enjoy gifts sent to them by their Aunt Lily. (Notice the skirt over Lily's outfit...she insists on wearing a skirt every morning these days.)

"I'm so glad to be yours"

There are days when I still can't believe the blessing I have received in adopting twins. (Granted, there are days when I think we are crazy as well, but that is another post...) It is becoming more joyous each day to watch them learn to interact and love one another. Like this week, they have started telling each other jokes. Lily will say some phrase to Kate (which is unintelligible for the most part to me) and Kate will say part of it back to her and they both laugh uncontrolably. Usually it is the same joke over and over... they have about 3 of them. They have also started arguing. One will say an unintelligible phrase that includes the words, "no,no sister" and the other one will respond back quickly and sharply with an equally unintelligible phrase that also includes "no, no sister." And then it is over as quickly as it started. They also love to chase and wrestle each other. It is always Lily chasing and tackling. Kate loves to be the one pursued. Even though they are so different from each other, I can't imagine one without the other. I hope that they will always love each other the way they do now.

I had to delete the song since I couldn't figure out how to keep it from playing all the time. It was "I'm so glad to be yours" by Hunter Payne...great song!

A different Christmas

As Phil and I pulled into Mississippi for our Christmas vacation, we feel ill with a raging strep throat infection. For three days, we could hardly get out of bed and felt awful. Thankfully, my parents were there to take care of Lily and Kate. Sooo... we ended up with interesting views of Christmas this year.

Christmas from my perspective... Here is the ceiling fan I stared at for 3 days.

Here is Phil's view of the ceiling fan.

Here is Lily and Kate's memories of Christmas...LOTS of individual grandparent time.

...more undivided grandparent attention

Phil and I rallying back 24 hours after our Christmas Eve in the ER, antibiotics and pain killers.

Finally...getting to be together with the girls again.
